About Me

Hi there, I'm Chris Brooks. This is my blog about IT.
Although I have some experience in the world of IT from being one for about a year and a half, my background goes back much further. I imagine that it is similar to many others taking IT classes or just getting into the profession. I was the "lead tinkerer" for my family when it came to electronic conundrums. Whether it was the Commodore 64--our first PC--or the VCR in the living room. I was the house IT as a kid.

Although I have that experience, I never got a lot of background in how the details of software, programming, and networking work until I started taking IT courses at Ashford University. this blog--in addition to being a chronicle of what I am learning about the topic are also part of an assignment in one of those classes.

Besides being a technician, I am also a sound engineer at the local Performing Arts Center. Music and technology may seem like unlikely buddies, but I think they work hand-in-hand. As long as I have been playing music, I have been recording it. With that, comes the necessity of understanding technology to some degree or another. Mixing live sound it altogether different--and it's also something I am just getting used to--but I am picking up on the different rules of the game with every session.
